The Cockrell School of Engineering has consistently remained among the ranks of the country’s top engineering schools, and the school’s faculty members are recognized worldwide for their expertise across a variety of fields. The school ranks fourth in number of faculty who are National Academy of Engineering members. Research

SURGe is a student group that works to foster a cohesive undergraduate research community here at UT. It is network of individual students (some doing research in labs and some not) who meet to discuss and promote involvement in scientific research on campus.

Engineering Scholarship Program
The Engineering Scholarship Program works to increase the quality and retention of students enrolled in the Cockrell School of Engineering by providing information about scholarship resources and assisting with scholarship applications.
Equal Opportunity in Engineering
The Equal Opportunity in Engineering (EOE) Program at UT Austin seeks to increase the diversity of its student body by supporting students who come from historically underrepresented population groups in Texas or students who have backgrounds or experiences that will contribute to the overall diversity of the Cockrell School of Engineering.
Women in Engineering
Women in Engineering (WEP) was developed to educate girls and women about engineering, to inspire women to pursue the unlimited opportunities within the world of engineering and to unleash the potential of engineering-educated women to benefit society.
Cooperative Engineering Education
The Cooperative Engineering Education (Co-op) Program is an academic program that allows undergraduate students to obtain full-time engineering experience before they graduate.
Mentoring Program
Mentoring Program facilitates a student’s personal and career development through the sharing of known resources, expertise, skills, perspectives and proficiencies by an experienced individual.
Richard W. McKinney Engineering Library
Richard W. McKinney Engineering Library is the eighth largest engineering library in the nation. Its resources include over 170,000 volumes and 1,100 current periodicals. The library is one of five U.S. Patent and Trademark Depository Libraries in Texas.
