The University of Texas at Austin

All new transfer students and all students who have been admitted to UT Austin after successfully completing the Coordinated Admission Program (CAP) should attend orientation.

Orientation sessions are available to students based on the term or semester in which they enroll at the university.

Registering for classes

Attending orientation offers new students the earliest possible access to class registration. Academic advisors from departments across campus are available during orientation to provide advising and help students select the appropriate classes when registering.

To register for orientation or to find out more information about orientation, please visit the Orientation Web site. You’ll find details about when orientation sessions are held for each semester or term and when orientation registration opens – along with some Frequently Asked Questions with lots of details.

If you have additional questions, contact New Student Services (NSS) at 512-471-3304, office hours are Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
