The University of Texas at Austin

The university uses the information we have on file to contact you regarding admissions, financial aid, scholarships, on-campus housing, and related issues. Without accurate information, the messages we send to you by mail or e-mail may not reach you.

Check the accuracy of your profile information from time to time. If something changes (your mailing address or your e-mail address, for example), use your UT EID and password to log in to update your profile.

It’s also possible to update your contact information by asking the Office of Admissions to make the change for you. Simply mail or fax your change request to the Office of Admissions. Be sure to include your full name, date of birth, UT EID, and your signature as part of your request. Updating your profile this way may take longer than doing it online.

E-mail

Maintaining current e-mail addresses as part of your contact information is becoming increasingly important.

  • Many university departments contact prospective students by e-mail.
  • Make sure that the e-mail address we have on file is accurate—and that it’s one that you check on a regular basis. That way you’ll be sure to know when we contact you by e-mail.
  • If you’re admitted, e-mail becomes even more important because it is an official means of communication with UT Austin students. As soon as possible, admitted students should sign up for a UT Austin e-mail address.
  • Checking your university e-mail account (rather than setting it up to forward your messages to another account) on a regular basis is the best practice. Forwarded e-mails are not always accepted by commercial e-mail providers.
