The University of Texas at Austin

Financial aid and scholarship opportunities for international undergraduate students at UT Austin are quite limited. For the most part, international students are not eligible for federal, state, or university aid or scholarships.

There are exceptions, however. International students who meet certain criteria can be considered for some types of aid and scholarships.

Texas Residency Information

International students who qualify for Texas Residency are eligible for state financial aid and for other benefits. To find out if you may qualify for state residency and to learn about the benefits of state residency—including eligibility for state aid, in-state tuition rates, and admission—read the information about Establishing Texas Residency.

If you are an international student and you think you qualify for Texas Residency, you must submit the Residency Affidavit along with your application for admission. Contact the Residency Office with questions and for assistance.

Scholarships

Some academic departments at UT Austin award academic scholarships for which international students are eligible to compete. However, many such awards are available to students only after an initial year of work at UT Austin. To find out if your department offers such scholarships, contact your college or department.
